Extracting all the possible information from PET and MRI scans requires the use of sophisticated mathematical and image processing tools.
They enable, for instance, the combination of scans conveying complementary information (multimodal image fusion), the determination of several physiological parameters (neuroreceptor concentration, metabolic rates, etc…) or performing statistical analysis directly on functional neuroimages (Statistical Parametric Mapping). |
